Q: Which was the last year that the Toyota Tacoma was made in Japan?
I want to buy a Toyota Tacoma but was looking at the 2009 models and they are assembled in Tijuana ,Mexico. I know Toyota is still a high quality vehicle even though this is the case, but I would rather get a slightly older model that was made in JAPAN- Transmission and Engine Which was the last model year where the Truck was made/ assembled in Japan? Thanks.
The sticker on the 2009 models say 35% parts from Japan but none are for the Engine or Transmission. Those parts state made in USA.
A: The bed for the Tacoma is manufactured in Mexico, but the Truck itself is assembled at the NUMMI plant in California. That has been the case since the introduction of the "Tacoma" from the "Toyota Truck". The last "truck" that Toyota produced in Japan for sale in the US was the T100 before the introduction of the Tundra which replaced it and is was produced in Princeton, Indiana, and now in San Antonia, Texas.
Hope this helps.

Q: What is the box between the back seats in the toyota tacoma?
i was looking in the back seat of a toyota tacoma with the acess cab and saw a box between the two back seats. it had a blue bulb thing in the middle. i was jus curious to know what it was.
A: You were looking at the new 2009 model with the upgraded audio system and the sub-woofer factory accessory. The box between the two back seats is a housing for the subwoofer speaker.
Hope this helps.

Q: How does my jeep compare to a Toyota Tacoma 4x4?
I'm just curious I have a jeep wrangler and I love it to death and wouldn't trade it for anything. I'm just curious how does it compare off road to a Toyota Tacoma 4x4. Both being bone stock. I know this is probably one of those both have pros and cons type question but I'd like hear everyones opinion.
A: I have a Tacoma, it's been a great truck and I've driven thousands of offroad trails without a problem. Reliability has been great, (I have an 04) and I'm sure if I decide to sell it I'll be able to get more than a Jeep of the same year. It's also much quieter on the road than a Jeep, and it's comforting to know that Toyota is not going bankrupt in the next couple of months.
That being said, I imagine a shorter wheelbase, solid axel vehicle like the jeep will perform better offroad in most situations than a longer wheelbase, IFS vehicle like the Tacoma.
Q: Can a person DIY an alignment at their home garage on a Toyota Tacoma 4x4?
I have a 2000 Toyota Tacoma 4wd and I would like to try and save $70 bucks if I can do the alignment myself. So far my camber on my driver side right tire is off i know this because of the abnormal tire wear. If I can rent some tools what would I need?
A: I would say it wouldn't be worth the time, and effort ,machines are made for precise degree angles why spend hours of guessing if its going to work and jeopordize your tires wear over time , and just have to pay someone to fix it anyway. Some things are not worth the hassle and better to get it done right the first time.Just because you can go to a store and rent a nail gun and compressor doesn't mean your qualified to build a house.Just my 2 cents.
Q: How do I adjust the aim of my headlights on a 2002 Toyota Tacoma?
I lifted my truck and the headlights now aim too high! I need to adjust the aim downward so they point towards the road in front of me instead of straight ahead. If someone can explain the necessary steps required to perform the task on a 2002 Toyota Tacoma I would appreciate it very much. Thanks!!!
A: It's a screwdriver type with a torx head on it.
T-15
Should be the same as yours.
Q: Are insurance rates different for a lifted Toyota Tacoma rather than a normal one?
I know i'm getting a used Toyota Tacoma, under 100K mileage, and I really want a lifted one, but I need to know if insurance rates are different?
I'm also making sure its 4x4 and Automatic
How much will it go up....if you know?
I don't plan on going off roading too much, just if i need to get to the horses in the back field when its muddy and stuff, maybe a lil mudding with friends
A: I don't know if the rate will be different. Call an insurance agent and ask.
But I do know most policies specifically exclude coverage if you are driving off-road.

Q: What are the biggest tires I can put on my Toyota Tacoma 4X4.?
I have a 2005 Toyota Tacoma 4X4. My rims are 14 inches and I would like to put larger tires on my truck. What are the best tires I can buy? I use it mostly for street but sometimes find myself in the snow or mud. In addition, I currently get around 19 miles per gallon. How will these larger tires effect my gas mileage?
A: Hi,
Unfortunately what you mentioned isn't actually possible. A 2005 Toyota Tacoma CANNOT fit 14 inch wheels. It is physically impossible to get that size of wheel over the brake caliper. Even on the most basic model of 2WD, it was a 15" tire. 4x4 models almost always came with 16" wheels.
I would ask that you clarify your actual current tire size - it is most likely a 16" rim. Beyond that, the largest tire size you can put on the truck depends on if you have the TRD package or not and what you consider actually "fitting". Some have fit tires as large as 255/85R16 (33x10.5 - tall and skinny) without a lift, but the tires will rub against the frame at full left-right turns. A safe larger size is something in the 31 or 32 inch range. Start looking at a size like 265/75R16 (32") or 265/70R16 (31").
For tires, a solid tire for what you have mentioned is the BFG All Terrain T/A. They have a tread pattern that can handle a decent amount of off-road while still maintaining snow/ice on city streets and highway travel. One of the best all-around tires available from my personal experience.
Larger tires will affect your gas mileage. You can expect to loose a 1 or 2 mpg with a larger size. The actual amount depends on your driving and the type of tire you end up choosing. The more agressive the tread, the more resistance there is and the engine has to work harder. A mud tire with large lugs has a lot more resistance then a highway tire.
Another thing to consider is power loss. The larger the diameter of the tire, the slower the engine will run at highway speeds. While this may seem like a good thing, it means that the engine falls out of it's optimal powerband and the you may have to downshift more on hills. It also means that bigger tires = the truck being slower from a stand still. Fortunately the 2005 Tacoma with V6 engine has a lot of torque and can easily handle one or two inches of tires size increase and the loss of power will be minimal. If you decide to add a lift to the truck and go much bigger, you will find that you will need to regear the differentials to get your power back (not cheap).

I performed the maintenance on my 2006 Toyota tacoma and the light to do maintenance still is on. How to reset it, anyone knows?
Thanks
A: Turn the key on,but don't start it,and make sure the odometer is showing the actual mileage, not trip A or B.Turn the key back to the off position, then press and hold the trip/reset button.Continue to hold it down and turn the key to the on position.Continue holding the trip/reset button while the mileage flashes rows of zeros until the actual mileage appears again.Release the button, because you are finished .
Q: Changing oil every 5K or 3K miles on Toyota Tacoma?
I've just recently got a 2004 Toyota Tacoma. I've always driven a GM vehicle and am new to the import brands. It says to change the oil every 5,000 miles. I've always changed my own oil and have been taught to change it at 3,000. Do I use regular oil? and will it hurt it at all to go ahead and change it every 3,000 miles like I've always done?
A: I have an 04 Tacoma also. Oil changes are recommended every 5,000 miles. I'm not sure why anyone would change it any sooner. I also had a 90 toyota pickup that I drove for over 200K miles, and then sold it. Oil changes were done sporadically and it didn't fail me.
Q: Fitting car seat for baby into an '04 Toyota Tacoma Extended Cab?
I have a 2004 Toyota Tacoma Extended Cab and need to put a car seat in the back. It has an anchor point above the seat that says "car seat" but ours does not fit (smallest model available at Baby's R Us).
The problem is that in the rear facing position, the top of the car seat hits the back of the front passenger seat. If we could raise the car seat (legally) so that the top would sit above the top of the front seat, it may work. I don't know how to raise the level it sits on and if thats even legal.
I could also put it in the front seat but that is not recommended (but still legal).
Any suggestions, advice or experience?
Thanks.
Middle is not an option as it has to have a seat belt to secure the car seat. Front seat is all the way forward. I'm not even worried about passengers with the car seat, they can sit in the back behind the driver and watch the baby.
A: Try the 2 sites listed below. The first one is a compatability database - your vehicle may be listed. The second has many carseat techs who can help you find a seat for your child.
